A Halloween Party Idea for School Age Kids – Fun Games to Play

Halloween is a favorite holiday for kids. They love being able to dress in costumes, carve pumpkins and attend a party. A Halloween party idea for school age kids includes playing fun games. I have listed several fun games that you can play either at a school or home party.

The mummy wrap game calls for teams of four kids. One will become the mummy and the other three will wrap him or her in toilet paper. This is a timed game, so a loud kitchen timer works great. Give each team several rolls of toilet paper; set the timer for a couple of minutes and say GO. When the timer rings or you stay STOP, the team with the mummy who is wrapped the most is the winner.

Set up a miniature golf game either indoors or outdoors. You can use an empty tin can for the hole. It is a lot of fun if you can obtain large plastic bones for the clubs and draw an eye on a plastic golf ball. See who can make a hole in one.

Another physical activity is a monster tag and capture game. You’ll need an area about the size of a volleyball court. The kids stand at one end of the line. One player, Frankenstein Monster, stands about six feet in front of the group (facing the same direction). The monster walks forward with the group following calling out Frankenstein are you alive? The monster stops, turns and points to one child saying who are you? The child may answer any Halloween creature (rat, bat, pumpkin, ghost, goblin black cat, etc.).

The monster than turns and the group continues to follow asking the same question. At any time a child answering the monster may say they are Frankenstein, the monster then chases the group back to the starting line. Establish a finish line, and someone needs to say Frankenstein before the monster reaches this line. Anyone tagged or caught by the monster goes to the centerline, and the game is repeated. The last players caught are the winners.

Another Halloween party idea is to have a Freeze Dance. Play Halloween songs like the Monster Mash, Purple People Eater, or Attack of the Killer Tomatoes to play this game with. Have a dance contest with the winners being who can dance the silliest, slowest, fastest, etc.

3 Fun Games To Play With Your Yorkie Puppy

Yorkshire Terriers are extremely playful – they love to run around and chase things. They have a lot of energy which owners should learn how to put to good use. Games, whether indoor or outdoor, are an excellent way to keep your pet entertained at the same time insert some training lessons. Remember, dogs learn basic commands best when they’re trained young!

Here are 3 fun games you could play with your Yorkshire Terrier:

Hide and Seek

This is an excellent game to play with your pup that also teaches him the “Come” command. Play this game in a confined, safe space in your home or better yet, outside in your yard. Play with your pet for a few minutes then wait for a moment when he becomes distracted. Hide behind a sofa (or a bush when outside). Peek and wait until he realizes that you’re gone and naturally he will come looking for you as Yorkies tend to become clingy and affectionate of their owners. When he gets close to your hiding spot, shout “Come!” – which will teach him to go to you wherever you are.

Find Your Toy

All you need for this game is your pet’s favorite toy. Start by sitting in front of him in a room, waving his favorite toy saying “Where’s your toy?”. As he looks at the toy in your hand, let him take it several times and play with it for a few minutes. Then take him out of the room, hide the toy partially and let him find it. Again, ask “Where’s your toy?”. Once he finds it, take him out of the room again but this time hid the toy fully. Ask the question again and let your pet sniff the room until he finds his toy. When this game is successful, the toy can be an excellent teaching aid for training sessions.

Catch-Me

This is a game/training technique that also teaches the “Come” command. It requires two people sitting across each other in a room about six to eight feet apart, with one holding the Yorkie and the other one holding a treat. The one holding the treat should shout “Come!” in a happy voice, giving the treat as the pup comes running. This teaches your pet to come to you even when he’s enjoying playing with other people.

Try these fun games with your Yorkshire Terrier which will also be a learning process for him!

3 Fun Games to Play With Your Cat

In this busy day and age most people struggle to find time to do everything they want, and quite often spending time with the family cat is sacrificed for other things, such as TV and work. This is not only bad for your owner-cat relationship but also for your health and the health of your cat as pet owners who frequent with their pets are generally more healthy than non pet owners.

There are however some simple games that you can play with your cat that are fun for both of you, and don’t require too much of your time.

3 Fun Games To Play With Your Cat

1) Cat’s love to chase things, we all know this and know that they cannot help themselves. Using either a torch or preferably a laser pointer, start waving the light in front of your cat and watch them chase after it. You can run the light in circles, across the room, up the walls and the cats just love it. Whenever i pick up the laser pointer they get really excited and start purring, it’s great fun and lets you bond with your cat.

2) Another chasing game that gives you some exercise as well is to get piece of string and move along with one end trailing behind you on the ground. Most cat’s can’t resist the urge to chase it and enjoy being able to pounce on it.

3) One game that younger cats enjoy is what i like to call hide and seek. Basically you hide behind something, get their attention, then duck back down and hide again. It’s a bit like peek-a-boo with a small child but some cats enjoy it just as much.
